Stipend: $360 for two days (lunch and transportation on your own)
Description: Expand your awareness of opportunities and expectations that directly impact your students' preparation and employability in the 21st century job market. Visit businesses with colleagues to expand your knowledge of what is happening in the workplace. You will visit four businesses covering a variety of career fields.
Where: IIT Smart Grid and Chicago Portfolio School, in Chicago; Focus Optical, Aurora, and Burgess-Norton, Geneva. An informational flyer is posted on the VALEES web site.
Requirements: Attendance at business field trips and institute participant meetings June 15 and 16. Submit a brief final report including an evaluation of the institute, a reflection on your learning, and a description of how you will share information gained through the institute with colleagues. A format for the final report will be provided by VALEES. The final report must be submitted online by June 24, 2011 in order to receive the institute stipend.
