Early Childhood Education Program Coordinator Arlene Smolich Oswego High School (630) 636-2158 Asmolich0223@oswego308.org Program Description This program offers a sequence of planned educational classroom and laboratory experiences concerned with the care and understanding of children of various ages. Students learn how to meet the safety, health and nutritional needs of children. State standards regulating care and supervision of group activities are covered. The program provides skill development by working with children during in-school laboratory or extended campus facilities. By completing this program, students gain competencies needed for successful employment or for continued education in the field of Early Childhood Development. Course of Study                        For students interested in a career working with children, the following courses are offered to high school students at your school or vocational career center. Child Development Early Childhood Occupations I Early Childhood Occupations II College Credit Students successfully completing the following secondary courses from VALEES certified Early Childhood Development high school programs are eligible to apply for college credit at Waubonsee Community College: If you successfully complete VALEES Courses: You may be eligible for credit for WCC course: H125, Child Development or H125A, Child Development  ECE115, Child Growth and Development  (3 semester hrs.) H205, Early Childhood Occupations I or H205A, Early Childhood Occupations I ECE101, Introduction to Early Childhood Education  (3 semester hrs.)
